Kauai has a bevy of good eats in store for visitors and locals alike, each eatery accompanied by a warm and welcoming service that you can only find in Hawaii. Fans of home-style classics and stick to your ribs food will find plenty of places to dine in Kauai, but one that stands out among the crowd is Ono Family Restaurant. Once you’ve tried the selection there, we’re confident it will become one of your go-to spots for comfort food favorites.

Located along Kuhio Highway, Ono is a cozy spot with a bright interior and cheerful decor. The Hawaiian print fabrics near the booths are a great touch, but the real star is the awesome menu. You’ll find a variety of breakfast, brunch, and lunch specialties, including those with an authentic Hawaiian twist. The macadamia nut pancakes with coconut syrup or the Local Boy omelette are each a fantastic way to start the day.

Other great dishes served at Ono Family Restaurant include the Spam and fried rice topped with eggs, custard pies, Kona Mocha coffee drink, and pork loco moco. The latter is a local favorite comprised of Kahlua pork, rice, gravy, and your choice of eggs. Don’t forget the shave ice! It’s flaky with just the right amount of flavoring – everything you could hope for in a frozen treat. With so many flavors to choose from, it won’t be hard to find one that you’ll enjoy.

If you prefer to eat outside — and many do thanks to Kauai’s beautiful sunny weather — Ono has a small area where patrons can sit under a shaded patio out front. Prices are reasonable, especially when you consider the generous portions and expert preparation. This restaurant is small in size, but definitely big on character and flavor. For a delicious meal or a cup of amazing shave ice, be sure to visit Ono Family Restaurant the next time you’re in Kauai.
